If my sight is one of the means that I use to have a dialogue with the world, _Fruit_ represents another means to seep into the body ─ the sense of taste. In the beginning, I made single apples, and then I made an aggregation of fruit, mixing them with general forms of bones and flesh. While shaping and pinching clay bodies into fruits, I could follow real images. On the other hand, I could freely follow the body images which I was obsessed with. As food, fruit extended into the mouth. The mouth became the interior space I focused on. It seemed to be a membrane or a door between the outside world and myself. My earlier works of body images were something under the skin or inside the body. Eating is about taking outside "pulp/flesh" in and making them the nutrition the body needs.   

I started by paying attention to the surface of the fruit -- single ones or multiple ones of integral forms. In the following works of _Fruit_ , I began "cutting up" the fruit. The internal pulp and seeds reflected in my eyes as the internal structures and tissues of the human body. In May 2021, I was told, out of the blue, that I had thyroid cancer. That was the same time when I was creating _Fruit_. After looking at pathology images and undergoing a dissection of an organ, I discovered a whole new deep meaning in my action of cutting up the fruit.    I underwent surgery on my throat. As a consequence, I was put on a strict diet for some time while receiving radiotherapy. I lost most of my passion for food. It's necessary for me to temporarily forget the taste and my memories of the food in front of me. During this period, the action of swallowing was highlighted in my consciousness. I was kept in the cycle of anorexia and binge eating. "Eating" showed my preferences, needs, and desires. As long as my body was willing to eat, it might be possible to recover. At this particular moment, my body was not abstract anymore.

​充滿果物的盛裝盤,形與色已在其中相互混和,並不指向精確的形或色,而是隨著坯體的堆疊融合與釉藥流動改變,其中依然是混和了猶如骨、肉一般的型態,水果相互倚靠,陷入如柔軟皮膚般的表面。
