I intuitively sense that the forms and states of flowers and plants are connected to the human body and to conditions of survival. By depicting the process and posture of flowers as they wither, I extend the ongoing concern in my previous works: the state of human existence. Within this movement toward death, one may come to recognize the intense presence of the self more truthfully.

Unlike the delicate appearance of flowers in reality, I thicken and swell the petals, stems, roots, and leaves, making them appear almost flesh-like, full of volume and weight. The plant body is shaped through expressive lines and gestural marks, emerging through the accumulation of enormous floral forms and flesh-like structures.
